Vegan Guide to Long Beach, California (2026)

There are so many great vegan spots in Long Beach. And while writing this post, I’m realizing.. most of them are somewhere on 4th street?

This guide will continue to evolve, so make sure to check back often, or follow me on Instagram @vegan.dynamite for updates as new restaurants are added.

plantitas kitchen

1950 W Willow Street
I finally stopped into PlanTitas Kitchen the day I decided to post this guide! Their menu is on the smaller side, which might be a good thing because I still had trouble deciding–everything sounded amazing. The flautas were delicious, made with jackfruit carnitas and potatoes, and the side of beans and rice were satisfying. I was set on getting the enmolada plate next time, but after seeing their handmade tortillas, I also look forward to trying their tacos. I will definitely be back!

vegan castle

2400 Santa Fe Avenue
Their dragon roll is one of the best things I’ve eaten in my life, and I usually pair it with the spicy edamame. Service can be slow and the ambiance is questionable, but I think it’s worth it. I will say their rolls are best fresh, so if I’m headed back to San Pedro I’d rather dine-in than take-out. Maybe someday I’ll try more of their menu, but for the last few years I’ve been happy with my old favorites.

the wild chive

2650 E Broadway
It is shameful that I’ve only been to The Wild Chive one time. They’re open for brunch Wednesday through Sunday, from 10am to 12:45 – and brunch tends to work better in theory than logistics for me. But it might be time to make my way back, because I definitely need to try their monte cristo, and stuffed french toast. Anyone who wants to make brunch plans, HMU?

san & wolves

3900 E 4th Street
I’ve only been here once, and it was such a treat! My first time in a long time having Filipino baking. I went for a cornbread bibingka and black sesame bun, both were delicious. I will be back to try more, and hope to one day have a reason to order one of their cakes – maybe when I get into vet school?

the grain cafe

4403 E 4th Street
I haven’t actually been to this location, but I have been to the other two many times! They have one of my breakfast burritos (it’s that smokey bacon), tasty crepes, and I also love the mole burrito. Their coco paradise smoothie is another favorite, and their assortment of sliced cakes is hard to pass up!

sura korean bbq & tofu house

621 Atlantic Avenue
I was so excited to add this to the list, because I don’t think I’ve ever had authentic Korean BBQ – even before I was vegan! I’ve had frozen knock-offs and enjoy them, but I’ve been nervous to try following any recipes at home until I try them in a restaurant. And this is the first one I’ve found. They’re at the top of my list to try, and I’ll report back when I do!

higher taste, plant-based

340 E 4th Street
Higher Taste has been around for a good while (formerly Ahimsa), and was one of the first restaurants I tried after going vegan in 2010. I usually go for one of their bowls, or house-made veggie burgers, but I also loved their Reuben when it was on the menu. I am kinda curious about their crunchwrap supreme..

mangiafoglie

2306 E 4th Street
This is another newer restaurant that I haven’t been to, but am looking forward to! This is a plant-based Italian spot, open for coffee from 10am – 3pm Monday through Sunday, and for dinner 5:30pm – 9pm Wednesday through Monday. Their socials also mention lunch and weekend brunch, so maybe follow their IG for the most up-to-date hours. Their entire menu looks impressive, and I hope I don’t decide on my favorite dish too early, so I can make my way through it!

plant power fast food

3744 E 4th Street
Plant Power probably takes the win for the spot I’ve visited the most. One of my vets is in Long Beach, and so was my old therapist, so I’ve definitely had a few stress meals here. Initially I went for the burgers, which are truly great (my fav is the western), but eventually I calmed down and usually go for the nugget meal with a shake, or breakfast croissant.

hypnotic vegan pizza LB

2771 E Broadway
This is a vegan pizza shop inside of a coffee shop, which is how I know I’ve never been here before! I genuinely thought I had. I rarely get pizza anywhere anymore since there aren’t great vegan options near me, but this might be close enough to change that?

wood coffee co.

2728 E 10th Street
Wood Coffee may be tied with Plant Power as the spot I’ve been to the most – and somehow I don’t have any pictures (yet)! Their seasonal drinks are always so tasty and special, this past weekend I had an almond cherry iced latte that I’m pretty sure had real cherry bits it in? Topped with MARZIPAN COLD FOAM (!!) which I’m just now learning from their allergy note, contains almonds. Did you know that? They also always have a great selection of sweet and savory pastries, which is why it’s my favorite spot to work or study when I’m feeling snacky.

I hope you found this guide helpful! I will continue to update regularly as I visit more of these restaurants, and find new ones. If you have any local hidden gems I should know about, or would like me to write a guide for another South Bay city, please let me know!
