Review: Vegan Options at Pixar Fest! April 26 – August 4, 2024 at Disney California Adventure

Pixar Fest began at Disneyland on Friday, April 26 – and it brought a few new vegan options into the parks!

You’ll find festival events and decor in both parks, but if you’re looking for plant-based dishes, head over to Disney California Adventure. I’ve all of the food options and will focus on those, but there are also some fun beverage options available.

Below are the three plant-based food options, according to the official Foodie Guide. You can browse the full guide for non-vegan items, beverages, and collectable popcorn buckets & drinkware.

Plant-Based Options

Recuerdame at Paradise Garden Grill • Inspired by Coco

  • Huarache with soy chorizo beans and seasoned steak tips topped with lettuce, cheese, avocado crema, and tomatillo salsa and served with Spanish rice and refried beans topped with nopales pico de gallo; inspired by Coco. $12.99
  • Street-style Watermelon with lime juice, chile-lime seasoning and chamoy; inspired by Coco. $6.99

Review: I was definitely a fan of the Plant-Based Huarache – it’s somewhat similar to the Loaded Baked Potato this location recently had for Food & Wine, which was great, served on a thin masa base instead of a potato. It’s a generous portion size, with beans and rice on the side to make it a meal. When you come to try this dish, come hungry!

I was less into the Street-Style Watermelon, mainly because the slice I got wasn’t super sweet. It was still refreshing as a side/dessert along with the huarache on a hot day, and I might try it again, but I’d probably go for a Loaded Dole Whip if I’m craving chamoy in the parks.

Elemental Table • Inspired by Elemental

  • “Smoked Fire Wood” BBQ-spiced IMPOSSIBLE Chicken with hot mustard sauce, pickles and charred onions. $8.50

Review: I enjoyed this item a lot more than I thought I would! I love pickles (and other pickled toppings) so that caught my interest, but I’m usually hesitant to go out of my way for dishes that focus on faux meats I can buy at the grocery store. I had also heard that this was too spicy for some people, so I expected it to be offensively hot. To me, it was more sweet than spicy, and had a nice flavor. The toppings made it more interesting, and I definitely wouldn’t have thought to put this combination together at home. But maybe I will now!

The Elemental Table booth is located across from the Avengers Campus west entrance, between Wine Country Trattoria and the Grizzly River Run waterfall.
