a touch of disney – spring 2021

Disneyland was the last theme park to get in on the foodie event action, with A Touch of Disney at California Adventure. Downtown Disney opened to guests for dining and shopping on July 9, 2020, followed by Buena Vista Street in DCA on November 19. For A Touch of Disney, guests could stroll the entire Disney California Adventure Park, with many dining and shopping locations open. Rides and attractions were still closed, but characters were out for socially-distanced photos and interactions.

petite impossible burger

smokejumper’s grill / grizzly peak
I expected this to taste a bit generic, but I ended up liking it a lot more than expected! In my Instagram post, I said that I hoped they would add this to the permanent menu at Smokejumpers – they didn’t, but they have added a new Impossible double cheeseburger that looks pretty tasty!

impossible chili waffle fries

smokejumper’s grill / grizzly peak
This was another great addition at Smokejumpers that I wish would have stuck around. The double cheeseburger is currently the only plant-based offering at this location, but as of August 17, 2022, there is a brand new Impossible chili cheese fries on the menu at The Golden Horseshoe over in Disneyland – I will report back once I’ve tried it!

snow-capped lemon & pineapple swirl

adorable snowman frosted treats / pixar pier
My first time at Adorable Snowman, and my first time trying lemon Dole Whip! This location typically has some different flavors & swirls than they have in Disneyland, so be sure to check it out if you want to try something new.

torta de papas street tacos

cocina cucamonga / pacific wharf
Between Rancho del Zocalo and Tortilla Jo’s, some of the first vegan items at Disneyland were Mexican food. But Cocina Cucamonga was not very vegan-friendly until now. The potato cakes in these tacos previously contained dairy, but they were veganized for this event and quite delicious! They have since been replaced with a different type of potato taco, which also look amazing and I’ve heard great reviews for those as well.

Overall, I was very happy with the vegan items at A Touch of Disney, and would give them all a 10 out of 10! I was able to try everything I wanted to, except for the pastrami-spiced Impossible burger at Lamplight Lounge, which has been added to their ongoing menu. It was great to be in the parks again!
